Profit Mohamed (PBUH) Said: If it is the last few moments for you on earth and you have in your hand a “baby palm tree” you must plant it. Although this quote by Profit Mohamed (PBUH) has always been used by Muslim scholars in the context of encouraging people to work hard until the last minute of their lives which is absolutely true, in my opinion, there are no better words that can reflect enthusiasm about the modern notion of “Sustainability” than those words. Being so passionate about Sustainability since voices have gone loud worldwide about climate change and the urgency that we humans should change the way we do things in order to avoid the foreseen catastrophic consequences, I have pursued a sustainable engineering credential in the field of transportation which is Sustainable Engineering Professional “STP” from the Greenroads Foundation, USA and I completed my MBA focusing on Sustainable Business Practices from the University of Cumbria, UK. I founded my first Engineering Company in 2013 and named it SATIEC “Sustainable Advanced Transportation and Infrastructure Engineering Consultants”. From Cairo, Egypt, we offered low cost, yet high quality Design Services mainly as a subconsultant to several well known consultants in the region. Now the intention is to continue the journey having our main office being moved to Dubai as a focal and influential business hub in the Middle East and under the name FASSIELA for the reasons explained above. It is also amazing to recognize that the 4 middle letters of the word FASSIELA are the first letters of the words “Sustainable Smart Infrastructure Engineering”. Working from Dubai, we are willing to expand our clientele list to include more international Consultants, Contractors and even END Clients. I am dreaming of the day that FASSIELA “the baby palm tree” will grow from a small engineering office offering only consultancy engineering services to a big entity that includes a powerful research center for innovations in the field of sustainability in addition to Nobel Philanthropic Goals. An entity that really contributes to the sustainability of human beings, all species, the environment and the entire planet. I am dreaming of the day when we will 3D print roads consisting of non-black panels made of recycled plastic (technology is already available) to replace the current heat absorbing black top. These panels will have charging units for electric cars embedded in them. The day we will reduce congestion on our roads to minimum and increase safety to maximum through the use of autonomous vehicles. The day we will bring our waste of pure storm water and even gray water to ZERO. Have gone too far?!!! Well, it all starts with a dream. I’ve planted the FASSIELA and will endeavor to have it grow and flourish.
